How to Bring Green Technology Into Your Trade Show Booth

How to go Green with Technology at Your Next Trade Show

Green Tech Ideas For Your Next Trade Show

As you plan for your next trade show, why not look for ways to work green technology into your booth?  Greener technology will help get people engaged and excited about your booth and it is also a great way to go green and help the environment at the same time.  I recently wrote an article on green technology for trade shows on the Trade Show News Network Thought Leader Blog (TSNN), about doing just that and I wanted to give a recap below.

Eco Apps Up the Green Factor

Apps can simplify processes, serve to engage visitors and reduce paper forms and receipts. A HANDSHAKE app is a great option that simplifies the ordering process and is quicker and easier for everyone from customers to staff in the booth and back at the office. Getting an app up and running can take some planning well in advance of the show between uploading images and product specs, so factor in the necessary time and make sure to also schedule time for your staff to practice using the app.

Also beware that many apps need to be purchased and they require Internet connection, so you’ll have to budget for these expenses. However, the time and paper saving qualities of taking your ordering process digital may very well make the added costs a worthwhile investments.

Audience Response Polling Keeps Guests Engaged and Provides Real Time Feedback

Feedback is constructive and allows you to tailor the experience you provide to better fit your customers. Real time feedback allows you to make decisions on the fly that can greatly improve how you interact and inform the folks who visit your booth. Audience polling lets you pose a question, receive answers via text message from the people nearby and you end up with valuable metrics that will help you make informed decisions on the spot and get people interested and engaged.

Another perk of audience polling is that the entire process is digital which means there is no paper trail. Poll Everywhere allows you to ask questions that your audience can answer from a web browser or their mobile phone and you can display the answers on a laptop or screen for an interactive experience. Again, consider the cost for the service, along with the necessary expenses for laptops or LCD displays to show questions and answers, along with Internet service, and make sure to write out and upload your questions ahead of time.

Take Your Press Kits Digital

A lot of people will visit your booth and while you certainly want to reach out to customers, reps and vendors don’t overlook the press. Journalists and bloggers can give you a ton of exposure that can reach so many people. Press kits should include pricing and contact info, product specs and photos, but also bear in mind that members of the media are going to be picking up a bunch of press kits.

You should strive to create something that again will be engaging, but is also small and lightweight, so it is easy to carry. Burn your info onto a disc, setup a page on your company’s website and distribute the web address and login info, or upload info to a fully customized, eco-friendly reusable flash drive. Going paperless will streamline your press kit and make them greener.

Why Not Go Green?

Trade shows can be exciting and offer a great opportunity to network and spread the word about your brand and the products or services you provide. Incorporating technology into your trade show booth can help create a sense of excitement and make your booth a popular spot to stop.
